FTUI Strengthens Collaboration with Japanese Industry: PT Ebara Offers Global Career Opportunities

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from PT Ebara and PT Kebun Teknologi Indonesia in a Coordination Meeting held at the Senate Meeting Room, FTUI Dean Building (May 15). The meeting marked the beginning of strengthened international collaboration between PT Ebara and FTUI in career development.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Entrepreneurship at FTUI, expressed his enthusiasm for the recruitment collaboration with PT Ebara. “We welcome this recruitment collaboration as it opens career opportunities for FTUI students to work at multinational companies, particularly in Japan. Not just as employees, but as part of a global professional network. We hope this marks the beginning of many similar opportunities for our students and alumni.”

During the discussion session, PT Ebara presented its recruitment plans for the coming year, which include several strategic positions in various fields. These openings include roles in the Research division, aimed at Mechanical Engineering graduates; the Design division, open to Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering; and the Production Technology division, intended for Mechanical Engineering and Information Systems graduates.

To create a comfortable working environment, PT Ebara offers additional benefits for international employees, such as subsidized travel costs for annual leave trips to their home countries and a Japanese language training program that lasts up to three years. This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to facilitating the adaptation process for employees in a multicultural work environment.

The meeting was attended by representatives from PT Ebara, namely Tetsuko Irie, Tomoyuki Ishikawa, Hidenobu Kawahara, and Dr. Eng. Mardiansyah Mardis, as well as Marsyul Musyawwir from PT Kebun Teknologi Indonesia. Representing FTUI were Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Entrepreneurship, along with his team.

In a separate statement, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized, “This collaboration is very important as it provides significant opportunities for FTUI students to build their careers at a leading Japanese company like PT Ebara. We hope this partnership will become a valuable gateway for career development in Japanese companies and enable our students to learn directly from Japan’s prestigious manufacturing industry. This is part of our continuous effort to produce engineers who are not only academically excellent but also globally competitive.”

Founded in 1912, PT Ebara has grown into one of the world’s leading industrial machinery manufacturers, particularly in the fluid machinery and systems business, with a strong position in pumps, compressors, and related products. Starting from fluid machinery and systems, the company expanded into environmental engineering—focused on water treatment, incinerators, and gasification technology—and later into precision machinery, producing semiconductor manufacturing equipment and other advanced tools.
