FTUI Strengthens Collaboration with Universiti Malaya

On February 26, the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya, under the leadership of Prof. Sr Ts. Dr. Azlan Shah Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment, conducted a collaborative visit to the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI). The purpose of this visit was to explore collaboration in educational programs, research, and grant cooperation between the two universities. The delegation was received by Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration of FTUI, and his team at the Board Room, Dean’s Office of FTUI.

“If we look back before COVID, FTUI and Universiti Malaya already have several track records of educational cooperation, so we hope that in the future, these two institutions can continue new collaborations to strengthen the relationship between FTUI and Universiti Malaya,” said Prof. Sr Ts. Dr. Azlan Shah Ali, accompanied by Prof. Sr Ts. Syahrul Nizam Kamruzzaman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asrul Mahjuddin, and Norafida Ab Ghafar.

The main points of discussion regarding international cooperation included education collaboration in single and double degree programs, joint supervision for master’s and doctoral programs, International Short Course Programs involving 10-20 students or lecturers, research collaboration, and inviting lecturers from Universiti Malaya and FTUI as guest lecturers as needed by students or departments.

At the end of the discussion, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his hope that the outcomes of today’s discussion would facilitate the realization of collaboration processes until the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). “I hope that the outcomes will bring us closer to achieving beneficial agreements for all parties involved. Hopefully, our hard work and collaboration today can lay a solid foundation for the next steps, leading us to eventually sign an MOU that strengthens this partnership.”

On a separate occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., stated, “This meeting is a concrete step in strengthening cooperation between FTUI and Universiti Malaya, which is expected to bring great benefits to both universities and produce competitive and impactful generations for Indonesia.”
