FTUI Students Join Ericsson Indonesia’s 5G Technology Innovation Activity ‘Imagine Live 2023’

12 students of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia had the opportunity to participate in an activity from Ericsson Indonesia, namely ‘Imagine Live 2023 – Unlocking the Future 5G’ (8/8). The event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Jakarta, was attended by students from various campuses and practitioners from various sectors. This activity aims to introduce the latest technology, namely 5G technology into technological innovation.

In his speech, Jerry Soper, President of Ericsson Indonesia, explained that the process of technological innovation is very important in accelerating digital transformation. In addition, he also explained that the potential of 5G in Indonesia can drive progress in various sectors, one of which is the education sector. For this reason, Ericsson Indonesia also invites academics to demonstrate Indonesia’s future in the digital economy.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU expressed his appreciation for the opportunity given by Ericsson Indonesia, “The participation of FTUI students in Ericsson Indonesia’s 5G technology innovation activity ‘Imagine Live 2023’ is clear evidence of the innovative spirit of FTUI students in following the latest technological developments. Their participation in this event will provide valuable experience and deep insight into the world of technology, and expand collaboration between academia and industry. I hope this will be the first step for students to continue contributing to the development of future technologies.”

On this occasion, FTUI students were allowed to directly try out innovations that apply 5G technology. Some of the technological innovations on display at this event included Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network services, Extended Reality (XR), and sustainability technology that can reduce electrical energy consumption. The participation of students in this activity can add insight into the potential of developing technology. In addition, this activity can expand cooperation between industry and institutions.
