FTUI Welcomes NTUST Delegation to Strengthen International Academic and Research Collaboration

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) continues to expand its international network through an official visit from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), held at the FTUI Senate Meeting Room, Dean’s Building (August 26). This meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening academic and research collaboration as well as student mobility opportunities at the global level.

The meeting was attended by several FTUI leaders, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng. (Head of the Planning, Performance Monitoring, and Education Modernization Unit), Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA. (Head of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Research Unit), Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Manager of Partnership and International Education), Prof. Dr.Eng. Arief Udhiarto, S.T., M.T., IPU. (Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering), and Dr. Komarudin, S.T., M.Eng. (Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering). The NTUST delegation included representatives from the College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, and the Industry-Academia Innovation College.

FTUI and NTUST have previously established collaboration through a General Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an Agreement of Implementation (AoI) for the Dual Degree Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering, which has been extended until 2029.

During the meeting, NTUST introduced several new initiatives, including the establishment of the Industry-Academia Innovation College for postgraduate studies with flexible partnership schemes, the launch of a fully English-taught program in the College of Electrical Engineering starting in 2026, and the provision of partial scholarships for up to 10 students per year for those enrolling at NTUST. These initiatives are expected to provide greater access for FTUI students to gain valuable international academic experience.

The discussion also covered plans for an Undergraduate Joint Degree Program between FTUI and NTUST through the Civil Engineering Department, as well as potential collaboration in Industrial Engineering through the Department of Industrial Management at NTUST. As a follow-up, NTUST will also confirm the Dual Degree opportunity under the International Advanced Technology Program (IATP) and open opportunities for FTUI to promote its short course programs to NTUST students.

FTUI Dean, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the visit. “Our collaboration with NTUST is a significant step toward expanding FTUI’s international network. We hope this synergy will further strengthen research collaboration, open new opportunities for student mobility, and enhance the global competitiveness of FTUI graduates,” he stated.

Through this visit, FTUI aims to foster a strategic partnership with NTUST to cultivate outstanding engineering talents who are globally competitive and ready to address future challenges.
