The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) recently hosted an official visit from representatives of the University of Queensland (UQ), particularly from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL). The visit took place over two days, on May 19 and 21, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation between the two institutions.
Ms. Gladys Yong, International Relations Officer from UQ EAIT, attended the visit on May 19. On May 21, FTUI welcomed Ms. Ana Abubakar, Regional Manager of UQ BEL, along with Ms. Fitria Arsianti, UQ Country Manager for Indonesia. FTUI leadership and faculty members, including Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr warmly received the UQ delegation. (Vice Dean for Education), Dr. Komarudin, S.T., M.Eng. (Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering), Dr. Zulkarnain, S.T., M.T. (Deputy Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering), Siti Nurandini Winduningtyas (Coordinator of International Partnerships), and Dyas L. Citraningrum (Coordinator of the International Class Program).
The main focus of the visit was a series of meetings with FTUI lecturers to discuss curriculum mapping and explore further opportunities for academic collaboration. These meetings reflect the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthen global partnerships, particularly in the areas of education development and student mobility.
In addition to academic discussions, the UQ representatives held a pre-departure briefing session for FTUI students preparing to continue their studies at the University of Queensland (UQ). The session provided practical guidance on academic life, cultural adaptation, and essential information about living in Brisbane, Australia.
“This visit is a concrete step in strengthening the synergy between FTUI and UQ. We believe that international collaboration will continue to open more opportunities for students and faculty to thrive on the global stage,” said Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, FTUI Vice Dean for Education.
Through this visit, the relationship between FTUI and UQ—particularly through the EAIT and BEL faculties—has grown stronger as part of a shared effort to advance higher education, cutting-edge research, and international student exchange programs.
