FTUI Welcomes IMT Atlantique Delegation: Strengthening International Collaboration in Engineering and Technology

The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) warmly welcomed a delegation from IMT Atlantique, a renowned higher education institution in France, at the Dewan Guru Besar Room, FTUI Dean’s Building, on June 24, 2024. This visit aimed to strengthen the existing collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in education and research.

The collaboration between FTUI and IMT Atlantique has previously been established through the signing of MoU and AoI Academic Exchange, as well as the AoI Double Degree Master between UI and IMT Atlantique for Environmental Engineering and Industrial Engineering programs. One of the main discussions during this meeting was related to the funding of the AoI Double Degree Master with IMT Atlantique through Erasmus FICEM, which is currently in the process of renewal and is expected to be finalized by July 2024.

Prof. Yves Andres from IMT Atlantique stated, “We are a leading engineering school in France and part of the ‘Institut Mines-Telecom,’ specializing in digital technology, environment, and energy. During this visit, we aim to explore opportunities to expand our collaboration in various fields, such as updating the double degree master programs for other study programs like cyber security, as well as opportunities for student mobility programs where FTUI undergraduate students can take first-semester master’s courses at IMT Atlantique.”

The IMT Atlantique delegation was welcomed by the Head of the FTUI International Office, Fadhilah Muslim S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC. In her remarks, Fadhilah expressed her appreciation for the collaboration between FTUI and IMT Atlantique. “We welcome the collaboration with IMT Atlantique and hope that this partnership will continue to grow in the future. We believe that this collaboration will benefit both institutions and their academic communities.”

This collaboration allows FTUI to send several lecturers and students to participate in the dual degree program in Project Management for Energy and Environmental Engineering. The program has a comprehensive curriculum structure, focusing on fundamental sciences (Semester 1), environmental courses (Semester 2), energy courses (Semester 3), and a master’s thesis (Semester 4).

On a different occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, stated, “FTUI is always committed to establishing strategic international collaborations to advance education and research in engineering. We believe that the collaboration with IMT Atlantique will significantly contribute to achieving these goals.”

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng., Head of the Education Modernization, Planning, and Supervision Unit; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of the International Office; Dr. Bambang Heru Susanto, S.T., M.T., Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering; and Dr. Tania Surya Utami, S.T., M.T., Head of the Bioprocess Engineering Study Program. From IMT Atlantique, the delegation included Prof. Yves Andres, Head of GEPEA Laboratory/Process Engineering for Environment and Food; Sary Awad, Ph.D., Head of Project Management for Environmental & Energy Engineering International Master Program; and Audrey Villot, Ph.D., Co-Responsible Formation Department of Energy System Engineering.
