The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) won 1st place in Indonesia in the 2023 SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR). As the best engineering campus in Indonesia, FTUI managed to rank 290th in Asia and 867th in the world.
According to the SIR page, there are a total of 6 categories in the subject area: Engineering where FTUI also received a ranking. FTUI ranks 1st in Indonesia in the Building and Construction category, ranks 2nd in Indonesia in the Architecture category, ranks 3rd in Indonesia in the Biomedical Engineering category, ranks 4th in Indonesia in the Civil and Structural Engineering category, ranks 5th in Indonesia in the Mechanical Engineering category, and Ranked 6th in Indonesia in the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering category.
“Overall, FTUI’s ranking has continued to increase since 2021 until it finally managed to occupy the 1st position in Indonesia. With this achievement, in the future, we will continue to increase research, innovation and community service so that FTUI is not only the best in Indonesia, but also able to compete at the global level,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU.
The Universitas Indonesia (UI) itself again won 1st place in Indonesia in the 2023 SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR). This achievement has placed UI for three consecutive years as the best tertiary institution in Indonesia according to the SIR version.
Apart from the subject area: Engineering, UI also won first place in 7 other subject areas, namely Arts and Humanities; Business, Management and Accounting; Energy; medicine; Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutics; Social Sciences; and Economics, Econometrics and Finance.
The top position in this country is based on three assessment indicators, namely research (research performance), innovation (innovation output), and societal (social impact). For research and social UI indicators, they occupy the first position in Indonesia, while when viewed from the UI innovation indicator, they are in the eighth position. From all indicators (overall), UI is ranked 1st.
SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a comprehensive research ranking for universities and research institutions worldwide. SIR includes thousands of research institutions from around the world which is grouped into five sectors, namely Government, Health, Universities, Companies, and Non-Profit. The goal of SIR is to provide institutions, policymakers, and research managers with a useful metric tool to analyze, evaluate, and improve an institution’s innovation activities, outputs, and results.
