In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FTUI, expressed his hope that the event would facilitate productive discussions among stakeholders. “Through these discussions, we can identify innovative solutions to achieve decarbonization goals and ensure the industry’s sustainability in the future,” he emphasized.
“Future Energy Talks 2024 serves as an essential platform in our efforts toward decarbonizing the industrial sector. Through sustainable technological innovation and policies, we can collaboratively create a cleaner environment and support green economic growth. This is an opportunity for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to share knowledge, develop solutions, and inspire concrete steps in addressing global environmental challenges,” said FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., in a separate interview.
The event continued with a presentation by FTUI Professor Dr. Ir. Akhmad Hidayatno, S.M., M.B.T., I.P.U., who discussed the importance of decarbonizing the industrial sector in addressing the challenges of global climate change. He outlined key strategies, including energy reduction, electrification from renewable energy sources, and carbon capture and storage technologies. The focus on energy efficiency practices through Lean and Green approaches encouraged the industry to minimize waste and optimize processes.
Apit Pria Nugraha, S.T., MPP, Head of the Center for Green Industry at BSKJI, Ministry of Industry, discussed Indonesia’s commitment to decarbonizing the industrial sector. Through a decarbonization roadmap developed by the Ministry of Industry’s Center for Green Industry, the government aims to achieve Net-Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060, focusing on energy efficiency and using renewable resources as key components to meet this goal.
The event concluded with a presentation by Gusrizal, Vice President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company, who discussed the company’s initiatives toward carbon neutrality. In line with its strategic plan through 2029, Pupuk Indonesia plans to invest in the development of green ammonia and energy-efficient technologies.
Future Energy Talks 2024 is expected to be a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences in industrial sector decarbonization while strengthening collaboration among academia, industry, and government. The event marks a significant step toward fostering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
