As one of Depok’s largest tech events, DevFest 2024 offered a unique experience through a series of seminars, workshops, and networking sessions designed for developers, students, and technology enthusiasts. The festival focused on key topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cloud Computing, Android Development, UI/UX, Web Development, Firebase, and non-technical skills, providing a platform for exchanging ideas to shape the future of technology.
DevFest Depok 2024 received full support from local government and academia, showcasing a strong commitment to advancing technological literacy and innovation. Rispiaga, S.T., M.T., Head of the Tourism Industry Division at the West Java Tourism and Cultural Office, stated, “We fully support initiatives like DevFest, which not only enhance technological literacy but also open opportunities for West Java communities to engage with the global technology ecosystem. We hope this event inspires innovation in tourism and cultural fields.”
Dr. H. Muhammad Fahmi, S.T., M.Si., Secretary of the Depok City Communication and Information Office, underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration. He remarked, “DevFest Depok 2024 demonstrates how collaboration among communities, government, and the tech sector can create beneficial learning spaces for developing human resources in Depok City. We hope this event continues to make a tangible impact.”
From the academic perspective, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suryanegara, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, Director of CEP-CCIT FTUI, praised the positive synergy between the tech community and educational institutions. “We are proud to be part of DevFest 2024. Our collaboration with GDG Depok fosters synergy that supports the development of tech-based innovation among students and the broader community. This is a significant step toward a brighter future,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of FTUI, emphasized, “Google Developer Festival Depok 2024 with the theme ‘Back to Future’ is an extraordinary event to inspire and drive innovation in technology. Through this platform, young generations can explore future opportunities and build relevant skills to create impactful technological solutions. We believe the collaboration and innovative spirit showcased at this festival will produce talents ready to bring positive changes, not only for Depok but also for Indonesia on the global stage.”
Azmi Faiz Habibi, Community Lead at GDG Depok, reflected on the importance of the event’s theme. He explained that DevFest Depok 2024 symbolizes GDG Depok’s commitment to advancing technology development in Indonesia, particularly in Depok. “DevFest Depok 2024 is our commitment to supporting technology development in Indonesia, especially in Depok. The theme ‘Back to Future’ invites us to reflect on how past dreams of technology have become reality and motivates us to create innovations that will simplify life in the future,” he said.
The festival provided a unique and educational experience for participants. It featured renowned speakers like Sandhika Galih, Fini Charisa, Cendekia Luthfieta, and Budi Oktaviyan, alongside 20 other experts sharing insights across various technology fields. Inspired by the legendary film of the same title, the “Back to the Future” theme blended 80s nostalgia with modern technological realities. Participants were encouraged to reflect on the journey of past technologies that have now become reality while envisioning future innovations. Workshops with futuristic themes such as Marty McFly, Flux Capacitor, DeLorean, and 88 MPH offered engaging and immersive learning experiences.
Organized by GDG Depok and Women Techmaker Depok, in collaboration with CEP-CCIT Universitas Indonesia, the event was supported by various sponsors and partners, including Google, the West Java Tourism and Cultural Office, Kode Creative Hub, JetBrains, NextDev, and TiDB as main sponsors. Goers served as the ticketing partner, with Tekno Event, Siap Remote, and Generation Girl Tangerang as media partners.
DevFest Depok 2024 has proven to be a platform that inspires, builds, and prepares the younger generation to innovate in technology. With the theme “Back to Future,” the event reflects on technological advancements while driving enthusiasm for creating a better future.
The event is expected to continue in the coming years, serving as a collaborative space for the tech community, academia, and government to advance Indonesia’s technology on a global scale.
