On Thursday (16/08), the Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering (DIK) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), held its first Department Academic System Introduction (PSAD) event. The event was attended by 80 students from three study programs under DIK, namely Energy Systems Engineering (TSE), the Engineer Professional Program (PPI), and Urban and Regional Planning (PWK). PSAD is part of the orientation activities for new students to gain a deeper understanding of the department’s structure and academic system.
The event began with a welcome speech from the Head of the Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering, Ir. Chairul Hudaya, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., IPM., explained the organizational structure of DIK and the department’s key role in addressing the increasingly complex future challenges. “DIK FTUI was officially established during the 60th Anniversary of FTUI, themed ‘Interdisciplinary Engineering for Golden Indonesia 2045.’ This department was formed in response to the dynamics of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity), which require comprehensive problem-solving approaches,” he stated.
The event continued with the symbolic acceptance of new students through the presentation of yellow jackets (jakun) to three student representatives from each study program. Aldilah Fazy represented the TSE program, Eka Putra Santoso represented the PPI program, and Aida Ekaputri represented the PWK program. This moment marked the official beginning of the student’s academic journey at DIK FTUI. After the symbolic event, PSAD concluded with a group photo session. The PSAD series continued with an inaugural lecture and sharing session for each study program separately.
Currently, DIK FTUI is led by Ir. Chairul Hudaya, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., IPM. as the Head of the Department and Dr. Eng. Mohammad Akita Indianto, S.T., M.Eng. as the Secretary of the Department. Meanwhile, the heads of the study programs under DIK include Prof. Dr. Fitri Yuli Zulkifli, S.T., M.Sc. as the Head of the PPI Program, Sheila Tobing, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as the Head of the TSE Program, and Dr.-Ing. Ova Candra Dewi, S.T., M.Sc. as the Head of the PWK Program.
With the organization of DIK’s PSAD, it is expected that the new students will understand their role as part of FTUI, which prioritizes cross-disciplinary collaboration. As a new department at FTUI, DIK has been granted the authority to manage the InterDisciplinary Engineering (IDE) Building and the Integrated Creative Engineering Learning Laboratory (i-CELL). These two buildings will serve as collaboration hubs for various engineering disciplines, encompassing education, research, and community service.
