JICA and FTUI Conduct Cyber Security Training

For 7 days, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) collaborated with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia (FTUI) to conduct cyber security training at the i-CELL FTUI building. The training took place in two parts, with the first part from February 21 to 23, 2024, and the second part from February 26 to 29, 2024. The program was attended by various universities and government institutions such as Kominfo, BSSN, and KPK.

The theme of the training material provided to participants was the “Project for Human Resources Development for Cyber Security Professionals.” The topics covered in the first part included Digital Forensic Essentials, Computer and Windows Forensic Analysis, Live Forensics, Mobile Device Forensics, and Logical Extraction. The second part covered topics such as Introduction to Cyber Security Incident Response (CSIR), TTX as a CSIR Training Method, Threat Identification and Incident Scenarios, and TTX Scenario Design. Three instructors delivered the material: Bisyron Wahyudi, Muhammad Salahuddien Manggalany, and Hamdan Abdul Aziz.

This training served as a Training of The Trainer aimed at enhancing the capabilities of instructors in delivering effective training. The goal was also to empower participants to handle and prevent incidents related to cyber security in their workplaces.

Elvian Syafrurizal, MT., a participant from the Department of Electrical Engineering (DTE) at FTUI, who is also an instructor and consultant at UP2M DTE FTUI, stated, “This training is very beneficial for us and our organization members to respond to incidents related to cyber security. In case of an incident, everyone knows what needs to be done, including in the Public Relations department. It’s like a fire or earthquake scenario – we already know where to go.”

“We hope that through this training, participants can provide similar training to their students, colleagues, or institution members. Additionally, participants should be better prepared to face cyber security incidents, not only when the incident occurs but also beforehand,” said Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.
