KITECH President Delivers Guest Lecture at FTUI: Discusses Strategies and Innovations in Responding to Global Industrial Challenges

On Tuesday (April 22), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), held a guest lecture featuring Dr. Sangmok Lee, President of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH). The lecture occurred at the Makara 04 Smart Meeting Room, 1st Floor of the Dean’s Building. This event marked a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between academia and international industrial technology research institutions.

Dr. Sangmok Lee presented a range of strategies and innovations currently being developed by KITECH to address global industrial challenges. In his presentation titled “Leading the Manufacturing Paradigm Shift,” Dr. Lee emphasized the importance of adopting autonomous manufacturing, transitioning to green technologies, and integrating innovative technologies to enhance the competitiveness of future industries. He outlined four key focus areas of KITECH’s development initiatives: Autonomous Manufacturing, Carbon & Hydrogen Alliance, Supply Chain Enforcement, and Servitization.

KITECH is active in South Korea and globally, with four overseas offices supporting Korean companies operating in international markets. At the local level, KITECH runs regional Mega Programs to develop industries based on local potential, create jobs, and combat local economic decline. Some notable regional development initiatives include Ulsan, Jeju, and Ansan projects.

This guest lecture opened a platform for dialogue between KITECH researchers and the FTUI academic community to explore opportunities for joint research, student mobility programs, and industrial technology consultation. As a research institution with over 2,300 staff and an annual budget of USD 281 million, KITECH continues to lead in developing sustainable manufacturing and environmentally friendly technologies.

FTUI welcomes this partnership as part of its efforts to internationalize and enhance the quality of its three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service. FTUI and KITECH are committed to fostering impactful innovations relevant to future industries while addressing global challenges through inclusive and sustainable solutions.

“KITECH brings a highly strategic perspective on how the global industry is transforming toward autonomous, eco-friendly, and service-oriented manufacturing. FTUI sees this as an opportunity to strengthen academic contributions and create real solutions for the future of national industry,” said Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.
