On Monday (24/6), the Master’s Program in Interdisciplinary Regional and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (PWK FTUI) received a visit from students and lecturers from Monash University. The visit was represented by Brendan Josey from the Department of Architecture at Monash University, accompanied by seven architecture students and one lecturer from Monash University in Indonesia. The visit was received in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the i-CELL Building at FTUI.
The visit was in response to a request from Monash University, particularly from the students, to attend a lecture and discussion session led by the Head of the PWK FTUI Study Program, Dr. Ing. Ir. Ova Candra Dewi, S.T., M.Sc., IPU., on the theme of Cities and Environment. On this occasion, the Head of the PWK Study Program shared a lecture titled “The Circular Economy: The Future Directions.” This lecture provided in-depth insights into the concept of the circular economy and its future directions, emphasizing the importance of sustainable strategies in urban and regional planning, with a focus on cases in Indonesia.
In addition to the lecture, the event included a series of discussions and visits to several infrastructure locations at Universitas Indonesia. The main focus of this visit was on green and blue infrastructure, which is part of the university’s efforts to implement sustainable concepts. The activities were guided by representatives from the Master’s Program in Interdisciplinary Regional and Urban Planning at FTUI, namely Dr. Phil. Hendricus Andy Simarmata, S.T., M.Si., and Farrah Eriska Putri, S.T., M.Ars.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., stated, “This visit not only provided Monash University students with the opportunity to learn from experts at FTUI but also strengthened the relationship between the two institutions in the field of urban planning and development. We hope that this collaboration can continue and produce positive contributions to the advancement of knowledge and practices in sustainable planning.”
