Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, FTUI, is trusted to be the General Chair of the Indonesian Lecturer Association (ADI) for the period 2022-2026 based on the results of the Fifth Congress held some time ago. Prof. Ali Berawi replaces Dinno Pati Jalal who served as General Chairman of Adi for the 2018-2022 period.

Present at the congress was the Chairman of ADI for the 2018-2022 period, Dinno Pati Jalal, Secretary General of ADI, Dr. Amirsyah Tambunan, and regional ADI administrators from Lampung, East Java, West Java, Jambi, Southeast Sulawesi, and others.

Prof. Ale, as he is familiarly called, said that he would continue the program to improve the quality and capacity of lecturers in the country. He will also bring ADI to be more active in contributing to the progress of the nation. Several programs were launched so that ADI can make a real contribution to the world of education in Indonesia.

“ADI as an educator organization in Indonesia will continue to increase its role in improving the quality and capacity of lecturers. Besides that, it will also play an active role in contributing to the intellectual development of the nation and building the country,” said Prof. Ale.

The Professor of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) added that the work program was carried out internally and externally. One of them is increasing the active role of lecturers in development. “One way to advance the quality of the nation can be started by increasing the role of the scientific community so that decision making can be more solid based on policy-based-evidence,” he said.

In terms of developing the competence of lecturers, ADI conducts visits and cooperation programs between lecturers and universities. “We also carry out a program of providing support for lecturers for activities that support research and publications through various upskilling trainings. And in terms of partnerships, we will establish strategic cooperative relationships with relevant parties in various sectors,” he said.

Prof. Ale, who is also the Head of Technology Transformation and Innovation in the IKN Transition Team and the Secretary of the Indonesian Presidential Advisory Council Member, also added, “Collaborations between lecturers and diaspora who have similar research fields are also carried out. So that they can conduct joint research that supports government programs. The pairing between lecturers and the diaspora is needed so that scientific writing, collaborative research, and e-journal management can be carried out,” he said.

The findings of the research, and scientific publications, are part of the development of science and can be used as teaching materials in the classroom. No less important according to Prof. Ale, namely conducting strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Education and Culture and industry. Cooperating with strategic partners is needed to build a climate that is in line between universities and industry.

“Regular dialogues in the context of sustainable futures between ADI and KADIN, HIPMI, International Chambers of Commerce, and other corporate practitioners are also carried out so that campuses can produce more entrepreneurs in the future,” he concluded.
