Prof. Praswasti PDK Wulan Elected as a Member of the UI Board of Trustees from the Faculty Period 2024-2029

Prof. Dr. Ir. Praswasti Pembangun Dyah Kencana Wulan, M.T., a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (UI) in the fields of Nano Technology and Sustainable Energy, has been selected as one of the seven members of the University of Indonesia’s Board of Trustees (MWA UI) from the Faculty for the term 2024 – 2029. This selection was announced based on the decision of the UI Academic Senate on Wednesday, March 21, 2024.

As a member of the UI Board of Trustees in the future, Prof. Wulan will focus on several aspects to strengthen UI in the future. “To support the digital transformation era, I first want to oversee the improvement of the University of Indonesia’s research infrastructure and facilities. Then, there needs to be a strategy related to the cost of education and increasing job opportunities for UI students. In achieving these two goals, it is important to have a close relationship between the various organs of the University of Indonesia.”

Furthermore, Prof. Wulan highlights the need to explore solutions to the issues outlined in the UI statutes, as Presidential Regulation No. 75 of 2021 stipulated. Another aspect she wishes to advocate for is the optimization of the UI Board of Trustees’ role as a strong representation of the Government, Society, and the University of Indonesia. Thus, it is hoped that the UI Board of Trustees can play an effective role in advancing the University of Indonesia on a global scale.

“With the support of all parties, I hope to contribute maximally to advancing the University of Indonesia towards greater excellence and impact both nationally and internationally. I will consider this trust as an opportunity to realize my vision of strengthening the role of the UI Board of Trustees as a navigator for higher education in an era of global challenges. Thanks to all parties who have supported this election process,” said Prof. Wulan.

We believe that with her experience and expertise, Prof. Wulan will be able to fulfil her duties well and make significant contributions to the progress of the University of Indonesia. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, appreciating Prof. Wulan’s election as a member of the UI Board of Trustees for the period 2024-2029.

Prof. Wulan has served as a Lecturer in Gas and Petrochemical Engineering at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia since 1991. She has held the position of Head of the Thermochemical Processes Research Group for the period 2022-2026. Prof. Wulan’s educational journey began with completing her undergraduate studies in the Department of Gas and Petrochemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. Still at the same campus, she continued her master’s studies specializing in Gas Engineering in the field of Metallurgical Engineering, PPSBIT (1994), and her doctoral studies in the Chemical Engineering Program at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (2008).

As an engineer, Prof. Wulan has been a member of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) since 2012. In 2015, Prof. Wulan received the Best Paper Award at the 7th International Conference on Thermofluids at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and the Teaching Excellence Award from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. Then, from 2015 to 2019, Prof. Wulan was elected as a member of the Faculty Senate at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, and continued as a member of the UI Senate from 2019 to 2024.
