Qurban at Engineering Returns with the Sacrifice of 20 Goats and Sheep and 3 Cows

In celebration of Eid al-Adha 1446 H, Qurban at Engineering was once again held at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI). The event took place behind the FTUI volleyball court on Saturday (June 7). Qurban at Engineering is an annual event regularly organized by FTUI as a means for the FTUI academic community to perform the religious rite of qurban (animal sacrifice).

This year, 20 goats and sheep along with 3 cows were sacrificed at FTUI. The slaughtered animals yielded more than 1,000 packages of qurban meat. These meat packages were then distributed to members of the FTUI academic community and residents around the UI area.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D attended the event.; Manager of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr.rer.pol. Ir. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T.; Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Dr.Eng. Arief Udhiarto, S.T., M.T., IPU; Chairman of the University of Indonesia Alumni Association (Iluni UI) for the 2022–2025 period, Didit Ratam; and the Forum for Brotherhood and Islamic Studies (FUSI) FTUI.

Chairperson of Qurban at Engineering 2025, M. Rizqi Purnomo, expressed his gratitude to all parties involved, both as shohibul qurban (donors) and as committee members. According to him, the act of qurban is a form of social worship, marked by sincere sacrifice for the sake of Allah. He also hoped that this event would bring benefit, strengthen Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), and serve as a source of blessings for everyone involved.

“One thing I truly appreciate is that the Qurban at Engineering committee consists mostly of first- and second-year students. And, alhamdulillah, the event has always run smoothly each year, said Didit Ratam in appreciation of the committee.

FTUI Dean Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., also delivered his remarks,God willing, the participation of the shohibul qurban and the committee members will serve as a good example of FTUI’s contribution in promoting a spirit of sharing. I also appreciate the committee’s efforts in ensuring the smooth execution of the event, from animal slaughtering to meat distribution. Hopefully, this spirit of generosity will reflect our effort to build an excellent and impactful UI—not only academically, but also in upholding social values.”
