On January 9, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), through the Research Center for Biomedical Engineering (RCBE) Institute for Biosystems and Bioengineering (IBB), held a ceremonial signing of a Collaboration Agreement (PKS) with CGBio Co., Ltd. The event, which took place in the Makara 04 Smart Meeting Room, FTUI Dean’s Office, marked the beginning of a strategic collaboration in research focused on developing CGBio products.
As part of the collaboration, CGBio has provided a research grant to RCBE-IBB to support three flagship research areas selected for their relevance to CGBio product development.
The three research areas funded by CGBio are:
- AI-Based Automated Quality Control with Machine Vision for 3D Bioprinting
This research aims to develop an artificial intelligence-based automated quality control system for 3D Bioprinting. The principal investigator for this project is Dr. Basari, S.T., M.Eng., supported by a research team comprising Mohammad Ikhsan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Dr. Ir. Tomy Abuzairi, S.T., M.Sc., M.T., Ph.D., and Dr. Muhannnad Firdaus S. Lubis. - Development of Cellulose-Based Injectable Hydrogels
This study focuses on creating cellulose-based injectable hydrogels. It is led by Retno Wahyu Nurhayati, S.T.P., M.Eng., Ph.D.Eng., with team members including Dr. Puspita Anggraini Katili, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. Ibnu Maulana Hidayatullah, S.T., M.T., and Sunarso, Ph.D. - Improvement of Fish-Based Collagen Purity
This research aims to enhance the purity of fish-based collagen for biotechnological applications. Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., leads the project, which includes team members Dr. Kenny Lischer, S.T., M.T., Apriliana Cahya Khayrani, S.T.P., M.Eng., Ph.D., and Dr. Safira Candra Asih, S.T., M.T.
In his remarks, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Acting Vice Dean for Resources, Venture, and General Administration and Manager of Collaboration, Venture, and Alumni FTUI, stated, “This collaboration reflects FTUI’s commitment to driving research-based innovation that aligns with industrial needs. The research grant from CGBio presents a significant opportunity for our researchers to develop technologies that positively impact society.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Acting Dean of FTUI, added, “We highly appreciate this collaboration as a strategic step to strengthen synergy between academia and industry. With this support, I am optimistic that FTUI can continue to produce innovative works that make a tangible contribution to the development of biomedical technology.”
The signing of this Collaboration Agreement marks the beginning of a partnership expected to benefit academia and industry significantly. In the spirit of collaboration and innovation, FTUI and CGBio Co., Ltd. are committed to advancing biomedical technology development to meet future needs.
Representatives from both institutions attended the event. FTUI was represented by Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng. (Director of the Institute for Biosystems and Bioengineering), and Siti Fauziyah Rahman, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. (Head of the Research Center for Biomedical Engineering), along with the project research lecturers. CGBio Co., Ltd. was represented by Hyun Seung Yu (CEO of CGBio Co., Ltd. and Director of R&D Biotechnology at Daewoong), Aoh Hyo Joong (CGBio staff), and Theresia Gita Hapsari (Daewoong staff).
