Representing FTUI, Yasmina Ashfa is Ready to Compete in the UI-level Outstanding Student Competition

The Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service Unit of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), in collaboration with the Academic and Professional Division of the Student Executive Body (BEM) FTUI, once again organized an open presentation event for FTUI’s Outstanding Students 2024. On this occasion, Yasmina Ashfa Zahidah, a student of the Biomedical Engineering Program in the Department of Electrical Engineering FTUI, was crowned as the Overall Champion of FTUI’s Outstanding Student 2024. The event took place at the Makara 04 Smart Meeting Room FTUI on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Yasmina’s scientific paper titled ‘ARYVEST: Intelligent Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator Integrating Convolutional Neural Network-Based Arrhythmia Rhythm Classification,’ under the guidance of Dr. Basari, S.T., M.Eng., earned her the Overall Champion title. “ARYVEST is a health device for arrhythmia patients – heart rhythm disorders – in the form of a 2 1 wearable wireless ECG and defibrillator patch. The goal of this invention is for early detection of arrhythmia conditions from the heart waves obtained from a 12-lead EKG, and to provide emergency first aid to regulate the user’s heart rate through external voltage from the attached defibrillator patch,” explained Yasmina.

Dr.rer.pol. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T., Manager of Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service at FTUI, explained, “The open presentation is one part of the selection process for faculty-level outstanding students, which is a stage after evaluating general achievement, curriculum vitae, English language proficiency, and the ideas presented in scientific papers. The aspects assessed in this open presentation include how the candidates present the material of their scientific papers, as well as their ability to answer questions posed by the jury in English.”

“This time, Yasmin will represent FTUI in the Outstanding Student competition at the UI level. This activity is not only a platform for acknowledging academic achievements but also an opportunity for students to develop their potential and interests in the scientific field, contributing more to the development of science and technology in Indonesia,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU.

In the open presentation, three FTUI lecturers serving as the jury were Dr. Kenny Lischer, S.T., M.T.; Dr. Miktha Farid Alkadri, S.Ars., M.Ars.; and Azizah Intan Pangesty, S.Si., M.Eng., D.Eng. Five students presented their scientific papers in the open presentation, namely Lulu Afifa from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Yasmina Ashfa from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Amar Falah from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Michael Gunawan from the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Laily Angelina from the Department of Industrial Engineering. Previously, these five students had undergone department-level selection before advancing to the faculty level.

Pilmapres or the Outstanding Student Selection is a student competition organized by the National Achievement Center under the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education annually. The goal is to appreciate the best students ready to become agents of change to build a better Indonesia. This activity also aims to develop student innovations through outstanding works to address societal challenges.
