FTUI Commemorates Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day with Flag Ceremony

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), held a Flag Ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on Sunday (17/08) at the front field of the FTUI Dean’s Building. The ceremony was conducted solemnly and attended by around 200 education staff, faculty and department leaders, as well as student representatives from BEM and MPM FTUI.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, served as the Ceremony Inspector. In his address, he emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and dedication in honoring the nation’s independence. “The 80th Independence Day is not merely a historical commemoration, but a moment to strengthen our commitment to create, innovate, and make meaningful contributions to the nation,” said Prof. Yanuar.

The ceremony included the hoisting of the Red and White Flag by the FTUI Flag-Raising Team (Paskibra), a moment of silence, the reading of the Proclamation text, the Pancasila, and the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution. The event concluded with a collective prayer as an expression of gratitude for the blessing of independence.

On this occasion, FTUI also presented commemorative gifts in the form of 1-gram gold bars to retiring education staff as a token of appreciation for their years of service and dedication. The recipients were Mr. Nurdin, Mr. Emed, Mr. Usman, Mr. Subagyo, Mr. Setyo Busono, Mr. Nein, Mr. Aris Sujarwo, Mr. Rahmat Nasuki, Mr. Nandang Prihatin Bahagia Putra, and Mrs. Sri Rejeki.

Additionally, the winners of the FTUI Capacity Building Reels Video Competition were announced. This competition was held to promote and internalize the 9 UI Core Values among all members of the FTUI academic community. Through creative reels content, these values are expected to be understood, embraced, and practiced in both academic activities and daily life on campus.

Through this ceremony, FTUI hopes that the spirit of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day will continue to inspire innovation and creation for the nation’s progress.
