Six FTUI Educational Staff Members Participate in the Indonesian Engineering Deans Forum (FDTI) Staff Course Batch II 2024

The Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) has sent six educational staff members to participate in the Indonesian Engineering Deans Forum (FDTI) Staff Course Batch II 2024. The FTUI staff delegation includes Wulan Komalasari (Collaboration, Venture, and Alumni Unit), Herra Astasusmini (Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service Unit), Yunita Dewi Hapsari (Education Unit), Eko Herry Supramono (Department of Electrical Engineering), Ita Repelita (Department of Chemical Engineering), and Deva Alifah (Department of Chemical Engineering).

Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of FTUI, appreciated the participation of FTUI’s educational staff in this activity. “This training allows FTUI’s educational staff to enhance their leadership and management skills. It is hoped that through this training, they can apply the knowledge gained to support the development of the faculty and the university as a whole,” he said.

The event took place at the Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta. It was attended by 50 participants, including office heads, section heads, and other staff from various universities across Indonesia. This training program is specifically designed for mid-career professionals to develop leadership and management skills, expand their understanding of strategy and planning, and build professional networks.

Prof. Ir. Selo, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UGM and Chairman of FDTI opened the event by highlighting the important role of educational staff in the development of engineering education. He stated, “The positions of Dean and faculty management are temporary, while educational staff will continue to accompany whoever is in charge. Therefore, continuity, alignment, and shared vision and mission between educational staff and faculty leaders are very important to achieve the university’s goals.”

One of the FTUI staff delegates, Herra Astasusmini, stated, “Besides strengthening the synergy between lecturers and staff, this training is also an opportunity to expand the network among staff in Engineering Faculties throughout Indonesia. The training results also provide a lot of inspiration, one of which is alumni support that can be used for facilities that can be utilized by students. Additionally, we also share information on staff duties in the Faculty of Engineering environment.”

On the first day, the activities were filled by three speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST, MSc, IPM, ASEAN Eng, SMIEE from the Faculty of Engineering, University of North Sumatra (USU) who discussed Change Management, Prof. Dr.-Ing.Ar.Ir. Ilya Fadjar Maharika, M.A., I.A.I. from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) who explored University Governance, and Nurhadi Irbath, S.T., CEC., LCC, a Professional Coach & Trainer from ECC FT UGM who presented a session on Coaching Team Work.

The second day of training featured five speakers, namely Ir. Rini Dharmastiti, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN.Eng. from Industrial Engineering UGM presenting material on K3 Implementation in Service and Innovation, Prof. Ir. Linawati, MEngSc., PhD. from the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University delivering material on Leadership & Communication Skills, Dr. Tutun Juhana, S.T., M.T. from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Bandung Institute of Technology (STEI ITB) with the topic of Paradigm Shifting, Prof. Philiphi de Rozari, S.Si., M.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D from the Faculty of Engineering, Nusa Cendana University (UNDANA) discussing Problem Solving & Decision Making, and Andry Anwar from Bank Mandiri KCP Sleman Kalasan explaining Customer Services Orientation.

The FDTI Staff Course 2024 focuses on three main areas: leadership, strategy, and operational planning. In the leadership sessions, participants learn to develop skills such as decision-making, communication, and team management. The strategy sessions include understanding planning, analysis, and strategic implementation, while the operational planning sessions teach how to translate strategy into effective action plans and manage resources efficiently.

With the implementation of the FDTI Staff Course 2024, it is hoped that FTUI’s educational staff will play an increasingly active role in supporting the development of engineering education and strengthening the synergy between educational staff and lecturers for mutual progress. This aligns with FTUI’s vision to become an excellent and globally competitive engineering education institution.
