Socialization of FTUI MBKM Implementation Guidelines

On Wednesday (27/7), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) held a socialization on the implementation of the Merdeka Learning Program for the Independent Campus (MBKM) for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Based on the Ministry of Education Regulation No. 3 of 2022 concerning National Higher Education Standards, article 15 paragraph 1 states that students have the opportunity to take part in learning activities inside and outside the study program. From these regulations, students can take part in the MBKM program in the form of student exchanges at home and abroad, internships, teaching assistants in education units, research, humanitarian projects, independent studies, village building, state defense, and micro-credential programs for Indonesian students.

“Every student has the right to take part in various programs in MBKM with certain conditions. Last semester students who take part in the MBKM program must complete the program a maximum of two weeks before the faculty graduation schedule to be able to process credit recognition,” said Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, FTUI Education Manager.

Dr. Nyoman Suwartha also added that the requirements for FTUI students to participate in the MBKM program include, first, active students as evidenced by the information in SIAK NG and the Higher Education Database (Dikti) in the current academic year. Second, students have completed at least 100 credits or 5 semesters or other requirements according to MBKM. Third, students have passed the selection according to the requirements of the study program. Fourth, students write a letter of requirements to join the MBKM program with the knowledge of the academic supervisor and the head of the study program or department. Finally, students have received a letter of recommendation from CIL to join the MBKM program.

“Every student who wants to take part in the MBKM program must attach information that will be followed when submitting an application to join the MBKM. The number of credits that can be taken by each student and admitted in one semester is a maximum of 20 credits. There are three ways of the credit transfer system, the structure, the form free, and mixed form. The department together with the credit transfer team select and determine the form of credit transfer recognition based on activities at the internship site or courses taken outside the campus in accordance with the curriculum in the department,” said Dr. Nyoman Suwartha.

This credit transfer process must be followed by the completeness of several documents, namely a statement letter for participating in the MBKM, activity log book, final report, and a certificate of completion of the MBKM program.
