On Monday (17/02), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from Airbus to discuss opportunities for strategic collaboration in aerospace technology. The meeting took place in the Smart Meeting Room, FTUI Dean’s Building, and was attended by FTUI leadership, faculty members, researchers, and students interested in the aviation industry.
The meeting began with an opening speech by Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FTUI, who warmly welcomed the Airbus delegation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry, particularly in innovation and aerospace technology. “Partnerships with industries like Airbus are crucial to ensuring that innovations developed in academic settings can have a real and practical impact on the industry,” said Prof. Kemas.
The discussion focused on various aspects, including potential collaboration in aviation technology research and innovation, internship and recruitment programs for FTUI students at Airbus, Airbus’ support for startup incubation programs and the development of an innovation ecosystem within academia, and the potential application of reverse engineering and product licensing in industrial cooperation.
The collaboration between FTUI and Airbus aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, enabling students and researchers to engage in innovative projects with tangible impacts. Airbus reaffirmed its commitment to building an innovation ecosystem in Indonesia by leveraging expertise from leading universities such as UI.
The meeting resulted in several initial agreements, including scheduling technical meetings to design concrete collaboration models, implementing pilot projects in research and talent development, and organizing training sessions and knowledge-sharing events by Airbus for FTUI students. Through this collaboration, it is expected that new innovations will emerge, contributing to the advancement of the aviation industry and smart technology in the future.
