The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from Tohoku University on Monday, August 12, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration and explore new opportunities in education and research between Tohoku University and Universitas Indonesia.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Student Affairs, stated, “As we know, academic and research collaboration between universities plays a vital role in advancing knowledge and innovation. This meeting is certainly an opportunity for both parties to discuss and explore various collaborative initiatives that can benefit both institutions and their academic communities.”
During the meeting, key discussion topics included grant opportunities, postgraduate programs for Indonesian students, and plans for collaboration in organizing the double-degree International Undergraduate Program (KKI) for bachelor’s and master’s students. Additionally, UI presented Tohoku University with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Agreement of Implementation (AoI) documents as a form of commitment to the upcoming collaboration.
Also present at the meeting from the FTUI delegation were Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Cooperation, Venture, and Alumni; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of the International Office; as well as several UI lecturers who are alumni of Tohoku University, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU; Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Harjanto; Dr. Eng. Mohammad Akita Indianto, S.T., M.Eng.; Dr. Adam B Cahaya; Dr. Syahril Siregar; and Dr. Seno Aji.
The Tohoku University delegation attending the visit included Tetsuya Nagasaka, Vice President for Social Outreach and Research Collaboration; Bitti Davide, International Exchange Officer, Global Engagement Division; Katsutake Sato, Alumni and Outreach Office, General Affairs and Planning Department; and Dr. Andi Kholik from the Tohoku University Alumni Association.
