Supporting the Development of Educational Facilities, GIFT UI Donates Another Smart Classroom to FTUI

On Tuesday (14/05), the Golfers Alumni FTUI (GIFT UI) once again demonstrated their support for the development of educational facilities at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) by donating a new Smart Classroom located in S503. The symbolic handover of the Smart Classroom (SCR) was carried out by Sehat Maulana, Chairman of GIFT UI, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of FTUI.

“As an alumnus, I feel proud to have been a student and to have graduated from FTUI. This pride motivates me to support various programs and initiatives to make FTUI even better. With this ceremony, we hope to encourage other alumni to contribute to FTUI. Ultimately, as FTUI progresses, its alumni will be viewed more favourably by society,” said Nanang Sugianto, Chairman of ILUNI FTUI.

Sehat Maulana, Chairman of GIFT UI, expressed the organization’s hope and commitment to supporting FTUI’s development, “Our participation in developing the Smart Classroom reflects our concern and commitment as alumni to support FTUI in creating a modern and innovative learning environment. Just like last year, we hope GIFT UI can continue to provide maximum contributions to our alma mater both this year and in the future.”

Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., as the Advisor of GIFT UI and UI Rector for the 2014-2019 period, echoed this sentiment. He stated that since its inception, GIFT UI has always adhered to its principle of contributing to FTUI’s development. He emphasized that FTUI’s progress hinges not only on its academic community but also on its alumni.

“We are grateful for GIFT UI’s active participation in supporting FTUI as the best engineering educational institution in Indonesia. As times change, we must always adapt, especially as we enter the new normal era where technology capable of accommodating hybrid meetings is essential. This need inspires FTUI to convert all conventional classrooms into Smart Classrooms. This program began during Dean Hendri’s tenure and continues under my leadership, to eventually encompass all classrooms at FTUI,” stated FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, in his speech.

The ceremony proceeded with the signing of the Handover Minutes (BAST) between GIFT UI and FTUI. Following the signing, Cindar Hari Prabowo, Director of Kamata Foundation, and Andryanto Wijaya, President Director of PT. BenQ Teknologi Indonesia shared their views on the importance of alumni’s role and contribution to developing educational facilities at FTUI.

Cindar stated that what he has given to FTUI is insignificant compared to what he has gained from FTUI. He hopes that other alumni will be moved to contribute to the modernization of FTUI’s learning facilities. Andryanto highlighted the necessity for a technology campus to implement 3I (Innovation, Integration, Intelligence), 3C (Conference, Casting, Collaboration), and 3L (Wireless, Driver-less, PC-less), all of which are integrated into the Smart Classroom.

The FTUI Smart Classroom, with a capacity of 40-60 students, is designed flexibly to accommodate various teaching models. The facilities include interactive smart boards, smart TVs, poly studios, and smart projectors with advanced features to support both in-person and hybrid learning. The revitalization of classrooms into Smart Classrooms has been a concrete step in developing FTUI’s educational facilities since 2019.

With the addition of Smart Classroom S503, the number of SCRs at FTUI now totals 25 out of the 60 planned SCRs. This classroom is GIFT UI’s third donation, following two previous SCR donations for rooms S203 and S303. On this occasion, FTUI also invited alumni representatives from the 1974 to 2004 cohorts to encourage collaboration in developing and modernizing FTUI’s facilities.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of souvenirs to the attending cohort representatives and a group photo. The handover of Smart Classroom S305 was also attended by UI Director of Student Affairs, Badrul Munir, Ph.D.; Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc.; Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Head of Education Modernization, Planning, and Supervision Unit, Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng.; Head of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit, Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng.; Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto; Manager of Human Resources and Facilities, Dr. Ajib Setyo Arifin, S.T., M.T.; Manager of Public Communication and General Administration, Tikka Anggraeni, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR.; and Head of Metallurgy and Materials Department, Dr. Deni Ferdian, S.T., M.Sc.
