Technopreneurship Day: Harman Subakat Shares the Importance of Entrepreneurial Mindset for Students

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) held Technopreneurship Day alongside the FTUI 2024 Advanced Guidance for Student Mentoring event titled The Best Version of Yourself, with an Entrepreneurial Mindset on November 2, 2024, at the GK Field, FTUI.

At the opening of the event, FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, expressed his hopes for the new students attending the event. “Dear new students, I hope today’s event can inspire you and ignite the spirit of technological entrepreneurship within yourselves,” said Dean Prof. Heri, encouraging students to listen attentively to the speakers who have faced various challenges in the entrepreneurial world, as their stories are expected to offer valuable lessons.

Dean Prof. Heri concluded his remarks by reminding students that the future lies in their hands. “The world needs new ideas, creative solutions, and sustainable innovation. Let this event be the start of your great journey in creating meaningful impact through technological entrepreneurship,” he said.

The event continued with an inspiring session by Harman Subakat, CEO of ParagonCorp, who presented on Nurturing Entrepreneur Mindset. Harman Subakat emphasized that entrepreneurship starts with a mindset, and an entrepreneurial mindset is not only important for those planning to become entrepreneurs but also for those working in companies. He encouraged students to build the right mindset focused on “start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can.”

Harman Subakat also stressed that as entrepreneurs, we must embody the characteristic of “being the only.” In building a business, we should aim to differentiate ourselves from our predecessors and add value to the business we run, as this will create a competitive advantage. He also reminded students to create a legacy that benefits society, not just focusing on personal gain. He urged them to avoid a benefit-oriented mentality and instead strive to always grow to benefit others.

In addition to the guest speaker session, several other activities were held, including a mentoring session where students were given materials by trainers from 21 FTUI lecturers on entrepreneurial behaviour and learning plans, as well as entrepreneurship KPIs, which were divided into 21 discussion groups. The event concluded with the Final Entrepreneurship Camp.
