The signing of Affiliate Membership Agreement between FTUI and Keio University

On August 29, 2024, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) renewed its bilateral collaboration with Keio University. This partnership, which began in 2018, aims to enhance human resources (HR) capacity and improve research in the field of cybersecurity, in response to the increasing challenges of digital security in today’s era.

Keio University is the world’s first university to establish the International Cyber Security Center of Excellence (INCS-CoE), designed to build strategic collaborations in cybersecurity research and academics with prestigious universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, including Stanford, George Mason, Carnegie-Mellon, Delaware, Royal Holloway, Waseda, and Kyushu, as well as involving industry and government partners. The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, is currently the only affiliate member representing ASEAN in this strategic collaboration.

The partnership was formally solidified through the signing of the Affiliate Membership Agreement, conducted at the FTUI Dean’s Office, by Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Acting Dean, and Prof. Satoru Tezuka, representing Keio University. The signing was witnessed by Fadhilah Muslim S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of the International Office, Dr. Eng. Arief Udhiarto, S.T., M.T., Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Dr. Muhammad Salman, ST, MIT, Head of the Computer Engineering Program.

“We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with Keio University. This partnership reinforces our commitment to enhancing human resources and research in the field of cybersecurity. By being part of the International Cyber Security Center of Excellence (INCS-CoE), we hope to develop top-notch human resources capable of competing globally and producing innovations relevant to addressing increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges. We are optimistic that this collaboration will have a tangible impact on technological advancements and cyber security, both in Indonesia and internationally,” said Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Acting Dean.
