Three Teams from the FTUI Borong Architecture Department Win in the MINIATURE National Competition: Art and Architecture Week 2022

Three teams from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (DA FTUI) won several titles in the MINIATUR National Competition: Art and Architecture Week 2022. MINIATUR 2022 is a competition that focuses on architectural solutions in designing PAUD with the main theme of triggering children’s multisensory sensing from within as well as outdoors. This national competition is an annual event organized by the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (DAFT UNDIP).

In this MINIATURE 2022 event, the DA of FTUI succeeded in making three achievements, namely 1st Place, 2nd Place, and Favorite Champion. The three teams that competed were under the guidance of the FTUI Professor and DA Lecturer, namely Prof. Ir. Evawani Ellisa, M.Eng., Ph.D., Baiq Lisa Wahyulina, S.T., M.Ars., IAI., and Aulia Urrohmah, S.Ars.

1st place was won by a team from DA FTUI consisting of James Paul Arthur Awuy (DA 2019), Nadia Salma Raniya (DA 2019), and Stevano Ezra Wicaksono (DA 2019). This team designed a project called Paood Al-Karomah.

“Paood Al-Karomah was initiated with the aim of increasing interest in early childhood learning with indoor and outdoor quality and also improving the quality of all multisensory children by collaboration between the locality of the surrounding material and nature,” explained Ir. Evavani Elisa.

Furthermore, the FTUI DA team consisting of Alva Maula Rahman (DA 2019), Dara Indira Okta (DA 2019), and Videlia Veriska (DA 2019) won 2nd place with a project called Circle of Imagination.

Baiq Lisa Wahyulina, S.T., M.Ars., IAI., explained that “Children’s play activities today are different. Children are no longer active and playing games outside, but their world is absorbed in gadgets. Architecturally, the design of this building opens up the possibility to act as a toy, with the principle of affordance, in which children are free to play and imagine when they meet certain shapes or spaces. Children are herded from the outside world into a world of play that supports exploration and imagination of physical movement while stimulating sensory stimulation. Starting from the walls, floor, spatial, to tactile in space can be a feature of children’s affordability to play.”

Then, the last team from DA FTUI won Favorite Champion consisting of Alvina Olivia Jeanette (DA 2019), Dimas Ananda Setiawan (DA 2019), and Az Zahrawaani Al Aryan (DA 2019). This team brought a project called Balajar.

“Balajar is Early Childhood Education (PAUD) which provides space for children to study formally through the potential of the existing surrounding environment, and is able to contribute to the surrounding community by becoming a communal area for gathering and providing health facilities, while maintaining the characteristics of environmental culture. around,” explained Aulia Urrohmah, S.Ars.

Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the three FTUI teams. After this, hopefully this innovative idea can continue to grow and provide benefits for the long term.”
