The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI), Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 accompanied the Rector of the Universitas Indonesia (UI), Prof. Ari Kuncoro, Ph.D, UI Vice Rectors and UI Deans met with TNI Commander Andika Perkasa at TNI Headquarters Cilangkap, Jakarta. This visit aims to discuss new cooperation opportunities between UI and the TNI.
Previously, in June 2020, UI and the Indonesian Army collaborated for reliable and qualified Army officers. This collaboration is realized through postgraduate (S2) lectures at UI. The synergy between the two institutions was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro, Ph.D and General Andika Perkasa at the UI Campus Convention Center, Depok.
The UI Rector said that in the current era, the penta-helix concept is very important where elements of the government, academics, society, and media are committed to developing knowledge innovation. On this visit, he said, “We came with a fairly complete group of knowledge, from socio-cultural, for example. The existence of a new ideological threat, can bring it to cultural wisdom. We have to be able to create a counter-narrative.”
General TNI Muhammad Andika Perkasa hopes that after the meeting, everything discussed will be realized soon through strengthening institutionalized cooperation between UI and the TNI.
Regarding the meeting, Dean Heri said, “FTUI is ready to cooperate with the TNI, especially regarding the support of military technology. Many of FTUI researchers and experts have research related to defense equipment, radar, sensors, and others. We are ready to train TNI members and officers with the required technical knowledge.”
The visit of the UI Rector to TNI Headquarters was accompanied by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Professor Abdul Haris, Vice Rector for Finance and Logistics Vita Silvira, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation Nurtami, Vice Rector for Human Resources and Assets Professor Dedi Priadi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Teguh Dartanto, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Heri Hermansyah, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Bagus Takwin, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Professor Semiarto Aji Purwanto, Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences Bondan Kanumoyoso, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Professor Ari Fahrial Syam, Director of Cooperation Toto Pranoto, and Head of Public Relations Amelita Lucia.
