UI-JICA Collaboration: Advancing Cybersecurity Talent Development through the 6th JCC Meeting

On Wednesday (April 23), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held the 6th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting as part of the collaborative project titled Human Resources Development for Cybersecurity Professionals, held at the Senate Meeting Room. This event marked a significant milestone in the development of human resources in cybersecurity, which is a strategic focus in today’s digital transformation era.

The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean of FTUI, followed by remarks from Dr. Said Mirza Pahlevi, M.Eng., Head of the Center for Digital Talent Development, and Mr. Sigit Kurniawan, Director of Cybersecurity Strategy and Cryptography at BSSN (National Cyber and Crypto Agency).

“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to JICA for its consistent and meaningful support of this program. I also extend my gratitude to our partners from the government, industry, and higher education institutions who continue contributing to the program’s success. Through this 6th JCC meeting, we are celebrating the achievements thus far and looking ahead—on how we can ensure the program’s sustainability and broaden its impact, said Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc.

The highlight of the opening session was a keynote speech delivered virtually by Mr. Tomoyuki Yamada, Senior Director of JICA. He emphasized the importance of international synergy in strengthening digital security talent, which serves as the frontline defence against global cyber threats.

Dr. Ruki Harwahyu from idCARE-UI presented an overview of the project, which was followed by the official closing ceremony and a group photo session. Mr. Hiroyuki Ide (Chief Advisor from JICA) and Dr. Muhammad Salman (Project Manager from UI) outlined the project’s accomplishments—both within and beyond its original scope—in detail.

An interactive discussion session led by Dr. Salman enriched the forum, providing space for reflection and outlining the project’s sustainability plan. The event was officially closed by prominent figures including Prof. Dr. Eng. Arief Udhiarto, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kalamullah Ramli, and Mr. Kakuda Kazuyuki from JICA Indonesia.

Over 30 representatives from UI, BSSN, KOMINFO, JICA, and the professional cybersecurity community attended the event. This collaboration is expected to continue through future programs, training initiatives, and strategic research efforts to build strong national cyber resilience.
