Universitas Indonesia (UI) has once again achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the 189th position globally in the 2026 QS World University Rankings (QS WUR), officially released today, Thursday (June 19). This accomplishment continues UI’s positive trajectory over the past 16 years, having previously ranked 206th in the world and 8th in Southeast Asia in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
This year, UI successfully entered the ranks of the world’s top 200 universities—a historic milestone that reflects UI’s commitment to its ongoing transformation into a world-class university. UI Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., stated that this achievement is the result of extraordinary synergy among all elements at UI, including faculty members, students, and administrative staff, who consistently drive impactful research, high-quality education, and meaningful contributions to society.
He emphasized that every upward movement in ranking represents global recognition of UI’s innovation and contribution in nurturing outstanding talents and offering solutions to global challenges. Over the past several years, UI has strengthened its international presence through strategic collaborations with top universities and research institutions, advanced interdisciplinary research addressing global issues, and promoted the downstream implementation of impactful research into society and industry.
UI’s commitment to developing an adaptive curriculum continues to be reinforced, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the job market’s dynamics and the latest advancements in science and technology. This is accompanied by continuous investment in human resource development and the recruitment of top talents from both within and outside the country. Prof. Heri concluded his statement by saying, “Let us use this achievement as a driving force to keep creating, innovating, and contributing to the world. Together, we realize a Superior and Impactful Universitas Indonesia.”
