UIN Walisongo Visits FTUI to Prepare the Establishment of an AI-Based Robotics Engineering Program

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed an academic visit from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo Semarang (August 15) as part of a benchmarking and comparative study for the preparation of a new Robotics Engineering Program focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The UIN Walisongo delegation consisted of Prof. Dr. H. M. Mukhsin Jamil, M.Ag. (Vice Rector I), Dr. Malikhatul Hidayah, M.Pd., and Dr. Joko Budi Poernomo, M.Pd. The two-day visit, held on August 15–16, 2025, included academic discussions, curriculum presentations, and laboratory facility tours at FTUI.

During the visit, the UIN Walisongo delegation gained insights into the development of robotics engineering curricula, strategies for integrating AI technologies into academic activities, and the management of innovative research and laboratory operations at FTUI. This benchmarking activity is expected to serve as a foundation for designing an adaptive study program aligned with Industry 4.0 advancements and the global demand for expertise in AI-based robotics.

“Collaboration and learning from FTUI are very valuable for us in preparing a new study program that is relevant to future technological developments. Through this visit, UIN Walisongo aims to establish a strong engineering education program that contributes to the advancement of science and technology,” said Prof. Mukhsin Jamil.

This initiative reflects UIN Walisongo’s commitment to expanding academic disciplines and innovating to meet the challenges of the modern era. Through synergy with FTUI, UIN Walisongo underscores its strategic steps toward developing higher education that integrates Islamic studies, science, and technology.

“We warmly welcome UIN Walisongo’s initiative to develop an AI-based Robotics Engineering Program. FTUI is committed to sharing its experience and best practices in curriculum development, laboratory management, and innovative research in engineering. Collaborations like this are essential to strengthen Indonesia’s higher education ecosystem and prepare future engineers to contribute to global challenges,” said Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FTUI.
