As in previous years, the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) once again held its annual Halal Bihalal event following the Eid al-Fitr 1445 H holiday. The gathering occurred on Tuesday (08/04) at the FTUI IDE Building. This yearly tradition aims to strengthen bonds, foster togetherness, and enhance the sense of kinship among FTUI lecturers, administrative staff, and students. The event was also attended by the Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., and more than 400 members of the FTUI community. The celebration began with greetings and handshakes, accompanied by a hadroh performance by the PLK UI team.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., stated, “On behalf of the FTUI management, I would like to say taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum, minal aidin wal faidzin, and sincerely apologize for any wrongdoings. May we continue to collaborate and strengthen our teamwork in the future.”
Rector of UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., also delivered a heartfelt message, “This Halal Bihalal moment is not just a tradition following Eid al-Fitr, but also a space for collective reflection — to reaffirm the values of togetherness, mutual respect, and a strengthened spirit of collaboration. In this warm and heartfelt atmosphere, exchanging greetings and embraces among academic community members symbolises an apology and a sincere commitment to move forward together — one Faculty of Engineering, one Universitas Indonesia.”
Prof. Kemas also shared some proud achievements of the FTUI academic community. “Alhamdulillah, FTUI has maintained its position as Indonesia’s number one engineering faculty according to the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings. May this achievement continue to inspire us to do even better. Additionally, six lecturers and researchers have secured eight patents successfully.”
The event concluded with a friendly gathering and communal meal the entire FTUI academic community enjoyed. This relaxed moment was a sweet ending to the event series and further strengthened relationships between faculty leaders, lecturers, staff, and students in a warm and familial atmosphere. With renewed spirit after Eid, FTUI is ready to move forward together toward more outstanding achievements in the future.
