A golden opportunity came to the young talent from the CCIT Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), as they earned a place in the international Cybersecurity training program through the SMT Program Indonesia. One of the CCIT students, Abdur Rashid Firdaus, passed a rigorous selection process and earned the opportunity to attend advanced training in South Korea.
The Security Manpower Training (SMT) Indonesia program aims to provide deep understanding and knowledge of cybersecurity to young Indonesian talent, while also offering the chance to visit South Korea. The SMT Program is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA), and Network Security Hacking Company (NSHC Inc.), with support from INKOR, to enhance Indonesia’s global competitiveness in the field of cybersecurity.
In 2024, the program attracted 187 applicants from across Indonesia, with 50 participants selected to join online training. Out of these 50 participants, 10 were chosen to travel to South Korea for advanced training. Among the 50 online participants, 5 students from CCIT FTUI passed the online training stage, and Abdur Rashid Firdaus was the only CCIT student selected to continue with the training in South Korea.
Below are the names of CCIT FTUI students who participated in the 2024 online Cybersecurity training:

The SMT Program in Indonesia offers numerous valuable benefits to its participants. First, participants receive direct mentoring from experienced tutors working for top companies in South Korea. Additionally, the entire training, totalling 30 hours, is provided free of charge and fully funded by the South Korean government. For selected participants like Abdur Rashid Firdaus, this is a golden opportunity to participate in advanced training in South Korea, offering hands-on practical experience in the country. Participants will also receive an internationally recognized e-certificate from the South Korean government, which will serve as proof of their qualifications in cybersecurity.
Moreover, the program provides in-depth knowledge and insights that can be directly applied to various industries related to cybersecurity. Career opportunities are also widely available, as participants will have a greater chance to work in the cybersecurity industry, both in Indonesia and South Korea. In addition to technical training, participants will also gain cultural exchange experiences by having the opportunity to explore South Korea, further enhancing both their professional and cross-cultural knowledge.
The SMT Indonesia Program, attended by Abdur Rashid Firdaus and Evandita Wiratama Putra, consists of several selection stages, beginning with registration from June 12 to July 28, 2024, followed by interviews and evaluations in early August. After the selected participants were announced on August 9, 2024, the successful candidates then participated in an intensive training session starting on August 12, 2024.
The training includes various practical and theoretical sessions on cybersecurity, led directly by experts from top companies in South Korea. Participants also gain insights into the latest innovations in the field of cybersecurity, as well as opportunities to work with cybersecurity companies in South Korea.
The departure for South Korea for the participants selected for advanced training is scheduled for November 2024. At that time, Abdur Rashid Firdaus and Evandita Wiratama Putra, along with eight other participants from across Indonesia, will travel to Korea to attend a series of hands-on training sessions. This will undoubtedly be a valuable opportunity not only to deepen their technical knowledge in cybersecurity but also to gain cross-cultural experiences by exploring Korea’s technological ecosystem.
With Abdur Rashid Firdaus successfully securing training in South Korea, CCIT FTUI continues to demonstrate its contribution to producing excellent generations in the field of technology and cybersecurity. This achievement showcases the young talents from CCIT FTUI, proving they can compete internationally and have the potential to become skilled professionals in the rapidly growing cybersecurity industry.
“The participation of our young talents in this training program is proof that the quality of education at CCIT FTUI is globally competitive. We hope that more young talents will follow in the footsteps of Abdur Rashid Firdaus by taking advantage of international opportunities to improve their competencies in cybersecurity,” said Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suryanegara, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, Director of CEP CCIT FTUI.
For the young talents from CCIT FTUI and Universitas Indonesia who participated in this training, the experience was not only a valuable learning opportunity but also strengthened their global capabilities, which will assist them in the future.
The SMT Program Indonesia is a strategic step in building Indonesia’s global competitiveness and capacity in the field of cybersecurity. With more young talents participating, this program is expected to produce more competent cybersecurity professionals in the future.
