First Friday Prayer in the FTUI Environment After the COVID-19 Pandemic

After two years of vacuum, FTUI again held Friday prayers in the lobby of Building K FTUI 1st floor on August 5, 2022. This activity was carried out after during the COVID-19 pandemic the Friday prayer at FTUI was canceled due to the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). The preacher is Dr.rer.pol. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T., Manager of Student Affairs, Research and Community Service. Muhammad Husain (Metallurgical and Material Engineering 2019) acted as prayer priest and Ibadurrohman Musthofa (Architecture 2020) as muezzin and bilal.

Dr. Dani, as a preacher, delivered a lecture on adab in studying, namely being patient. Met after Friday prayers, he said, “Friday prayers with FTUI are a hallmark of the Faculty of Engineering UI which is greatly missed by lecturers, students and employees. When I was first asked by DKM-FTUI to become a preacher, I felt challenged. Hopefully in the future, the preacher can be rotated between lecturers and clerics.”

This Friday prayer activity was welcomed positively by FTUI residents. Dr. Jos Istiyanto as a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at FTUI stated that he was surprised because there was this activity. But he also felt happy because it was closer to the location of Friday worship. Taki, a 2020 Computer Engineering Student, stated that it was his first time to FTUI after previously studying online and according to him the Friday prayer in the lobby of FTUI’s K Building was quite comfortable and conducive. Meanwhile, Irfan, a 2019 Metallurgical and Material Engineering student, also felt happy because the location for Friday prayers was lighter and closer than having to go outside the FTUI environment. Saiful, Office Boy said he was happy to be able to pray Friday at FTUI because he could reunite with FTUI students, lecturers, and employees.
