On March 14, 2024, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) hosted a delegation from Arizona State University, held at the Leadership Meeting Room, FTUI Dean’s Building. This visit was conducted to discuss collaborative undergraduate and graduate programs in education, research, and grant cooperation between the two universities.
The core of this meeting began with an explanation of the study programs, courses, and departments at Arizona State University. The renowned university located in Tempe, Arizona, United States (US) has an excellent reputation. Arizona State University has been recognized as a leading university in the world for academic reputation based on the Times Higher Education, World Reputation Rankings 2022, the number 1 public university in the US for international students according to QS World University Rankings 2022, and ranked 1st in the US and 2nd globally for sustainability practices by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System 2023.
The collaboration opportunities discussed between FTUI and Arizona State University include joint degree programs, student exchanges, faculty exchanges, and other mobility programs. Joint degree programs are intended for undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduates will receive two bachelor’s degrees from FTUI and Arizona State University as well as a master’s degree from Arizona State University. Meanwhile, graduate students will receive two master’s degrees from FTUI and Arizona State University.
“Our purpose in visiting FTUI today is to introduce Arizona State University and discuss collaboration opportunities with FTUI. The collaboration opportunities we will offer include the International Accelerated Degree Program (IADP) with a 3+2 program, 3+1+1 Program, and 1+1 specifically for master’s degrees. Additionally, we are open to discussing grant cooperation opportunities for workforce development between the two educational institutions,” said Professor Terry Alford, Associate Director and Professor at the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport, and Energy.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., stated, “We welcome the visit and collaboration opportunities with Arizona State University. We hope that the meetings held between FTUI and Arizona State University can expand the collaboration opportunities that both universities can undertake. We hope that the collaboration we discussed can be realized soon.”
The meeting was attended by the FTUI delegation consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., as Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi as Head of the Modernization and Internationalization of Education Unit; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC as Secretary of the Modernization and Internationalization of Education Unit; Dr. Deni Ferdian, S.T., M.Sc. as Chair of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering; Dr. Dianursanti, S.T., M.T. as Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering; and Dr. Tania Surya Utami S.T., M.T. as Head of the Bioprocess Engineering Study Program. Additionally, there were delegates from Arizona State University including Prof. Terry Alford and Ms. Huyen Nguyen as International Admission Specialists, Admission Services.
