FTUI Holds Iftar Event with Academic Community

To strengthen the bonds within the academic community of FTUI, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia (FTUI) organized an Iftar event held at the K Building Lobby of FTUI on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The event was attended by nearly 400 people consisting of leaders, lecturers, staff, representatives of the FTUI Alumni Association, and student representatives from the FTUI Student Executive Board. The event began with the recitation of the holy verses of the Quran from Surah Al-Alaq along with its translation, delivered by Dr. Eng. Mohammad Akita Indianto, S.T., M.Eng.

In his speech, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., expressed his hope, “In this blessed month of Ramadan, I hope that the spirit of togetherness, justice, and sincerity will continue to accompany every step of the students and staff of the Faculty of Engineering. May this Ramadan bring blessings and success to all members of the FTUI academic community and serve as a momentum to increase our concern for others and strengthen our unity in achieving achievements and progress for the nation and the state. Happy fasting, may our worship be accepted by Allah SWT.”

As one of the Role Models in building the Integrity Zone of FTUI, the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., utilized this event’s momentum of togetherness to once again emphasize the importance of maintaining integrity to realize an outstanding and dedicated FTUI in trustworthy and competent service.

Specifically, Prof. Mahmud highlighted FTUI’s commitment to be free from gratification. “Alongside this holy month, I would like to invite all of you to join hands in building the Integrity Zone at FTUI. If you receive parcels from vendors or students, let us report them together and hand over the items. The FTUI gratification team is ready to receive your reports.”

As in previous years, FTUI also distributed vouchers to representative lecturers and staff from each department. This year, FTUI distributed 638 Eid vouchers, consisting of 396 vouchers for lecturers and 242 for employees from various units within FTUI.

Before breaking the fast, Prof. Arif Zamhari, M.A., Ph.D., delivered a brief lecture titled The Quran as a Miracle and Guide to Religious Life. He is the Head of the Department of Islamic Studies, Graduate School, State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

“The Quran is a perfect recitation. There is no reading like the Quran, which is studied not only for its arrangement of words and selection of vocabulary but also for its explicit and implicit contents, as well as the impressions it creates, because of when it was revealed and how it was revealed. The perfection of the Quran can also be seen from three aspects that serve as evidence of the truth of the information within it, namely the beauty and precision of its compositions, its revelations of the unseen, and its scientific indications,” expressed Prof. Arif.

After the Maghrib call to prayer, the event continued with breaking the fast together and performing the Maghrib prayer in the congregation. The event concluded with the distribution of vouchers to all participants in attendance.
