As part of developing an entrepreneurial university, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) made a working visit to two universities in Istanbul, Turkey. A working visit by the team of Dr. Muhammad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng. This study aims to find out the development of Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and Start-up/Business Incubator which are being developed by universities in Turkey.
On the first visit to Sabanci University on Thursday, August 25, 2022, the FTUI team was welcomed by the Vice Dean for Education Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), Prof. Dr. Tonguç nlüyurt; Vice Dean for Research FENS, Prof. Dr. Selmiye Alkan Gursel; and International Relations Officer, Gülin Karahüseyinoğlu. In addition, the FTUI team also had the opportunity to visit the management of the Faculty of Engineering at Sabanci University and visit several laboratories there. The FTUI team had the opportunity to study the development and management of innovation and entrepreneurship at the Sabanci University campus in Istanbul, Turkey.
On the second visit which was held on Friday, August 26, 2022 to Medipol University, the FTUI team met with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Medipol University, Prof. Huseyin Arslan. During the visit, the FTUI team had the opportunity to directly see the Technology Transfer Office developed by Medipol University.
“Hopefully this working visit can open opportunities for collaboration that focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship between the Faculty of Engineering, Medipol University and FTUI, starting with a comparative study of the Technology Transfer Office,” said Prof. Huseyin Arslan.
The Technology Transfer Office of Medipol University itself has been established since November 2014 to support the development of science and technology that answers the needs of the community. The Technology Transfer Office is also a facility for academics, students, and alumni of Medipol University in developing research according to their interests and talents. Because Medipol University is very strong in the field of health, the project that is mostly done is clinical testing. They are very open to being able to work together, especially in the field of entrepreneurship and clinical trials.
“Work visits to the two universities, Sabanci University and Medipol University, are expected to be able to inspire the development of technical innovation and entrepreneurship at FTUI through the Technology Management Office and Entrepreneurship Center which are currently under the management of the FTUI Innovation Entrepreneur Unit,” said Dr. Muhamad Sahlan who is also the Head of the Innovation Entrepreneur Unit/Reverse Engineering Center FTUI.
