FTUI and University of Duisburg-Essen Strengthen Double Degree Education Collaboration

FTUI welcomed a visit from the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Meeting Room DGB, FTUI Dean’s Building. This academic visit aimed to discuss collaboration documents and evaluate the implementation of the double degree (DD) program between FTUI and UDE.

“At present, FTUI and UDE are still in the process of finalizing the concept of managing cooperation agreement documents related to academic exchange, as the Legal and Cooperation Unit recently provided input regarding legal status,” said Ayomi Dita Rarasati, S.T. M.T., Ph.D., Head of the Civil Engineering Department.

This visit focused on discussing the format of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the Agreement of Implementation (AOI) that will follow or adapt to UI’s format, separating the AOI for academic exchange and DD, signing the MOU and AOI, the scope of AOI DD, the date of AOI DD approval, and specific discussions for undergraduate Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering courses for study exchange.

As a follow-up to this meeting, in the future, Civil Engineering will cover undergraduate Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering for exchange, Environmental Engineering (with Water Engineering) for DD, and Civil Engineering with Water Engineering for DD. Meanwhile, Mechanical Engineering will cover DD undergraduate Mechanical Engineering and DD undergraduate Naval Engineering.

FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., said, “FTUI and the University of Duisburg-Essen have long-established cooperation. I hope that with this meeting, the collaboration between FTUI and UDE will become even closer and can progress even better so that we can produce outstanding and impactful students.”

The FTUI delegation present at this meeting included Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng., Head of the Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit, Fadhilah Muslim S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Secretary of the Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit, Ayomi Dita Rarasati, S.T. M.T., Ph.D., Head of the Civil Engineering Department; Dr. -Ing. Mohammad Adhitya, S.T., M.Sc., Vice Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department; Dr. Muhammad Salman., ST., M.IT., Head of the Computer Engineering Program; Dr. -Ing. Reza Miftahul Ulum, S.T., M.Sc., representative of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department; Dr. Deni Ferdian, ST, M.Sc., Head of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department; M. Arif Budiyanto, representative of the Mechanical Engineering Department; and Sucipta Laksono, lecturer of the Civil Engineering Department.

Meanwhile, the UDE delegation consisted of Prof. Dieter Schramm, Chair of Mechatronics, Prof. Dr. – Ing. Bettar Ould el Moctar, Head of the Institute for Ship Technology and Ocean Engineering, Prof. Dr. -Ing. Axel Hunger, Retired Professor of Computer Engineering UDE (Managing Director of Mercator Office), as well as Dita Adhitia and Okti Halimurti, representatives of the Mercator Office.
