idCARE.UI Collaborates with UP2M DTE FTUI to Conduct Ethical Hacker Training at FTUI

The Indonesia Cyber Awareness and Resilience Center at the University of Indonesia (idCARE.UI) collaborated with the Community Service and Engagement Unit – Department of Electrical Engineering (UP2M DTE) at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) to conduct training on ethical hacking at the i-CELL Building, FTUI. This training, held from March 4 to 8, 2024, was sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and was provided free of charge. The training was organized through the collaboration between JICA and idCARE.UI as part of human resource development in the field of cybersecurity. The event was attended by various companies and government agencies such as PT Telkom, LKPP, Kominfo, and BSSN.

Over 7 days, participants were provided with materials on EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker for Critical Information Infrastructure. Topics covered included becoming an ethical hacker and defending against cyber attacks. From a hacking perspective, participants also learned about hacking systems, websites, applications, mobile devices, and various hacking techniques, as well as their countermeasures.

Azka Mustofa, one of the participants from the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP), stated, “This training is necessary, especially in today’s digital era. One good way to defend ourselves is to understand how attacks are carried out. So, we are not blind; we know which vulnerabilities need to be addressed and strengthened.”

“We hope that through this training, participants will be able to expand their knowledge of cybersecurity and strengthen cyber security defences in relevant institutions. Cybersecurity experts are still lacking in Indonesia, so with this training, we also hope to nurture new talents in cybersecurity,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.
