Fun at Work: FTUI Taichi Community Holds First Practice Session

After two years of hiatus, FTUI has reactivated the sports community. Starting from Badminton, Taichi and Field Tennis, it is hoped that in the future other sports communities in FTUI can resume their activities.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU invited the entire FTUI academic community to return to their activities on campus, “In a healthy body there is a healthy soul. FTUI realizes that physical health is needed to support high productivity. With the re-activation of the FTUI sports communities, it is hoped that in the future lecturers, staff and students can carry out educational, research and community service activities with high focus and dedication.”

One of the sports communities that recently opened is Taichi. It started with the first practice on Friday, March 25, 2022. Taking place on the FTUI Futsal field, in the future the taichi session will be held every Friday afternoon at 16.00 WIB. The first training session was attended by 10 participants led by Master Zul. During the fasting month of Ramadan, Tai Chi practice will be cancelled and will be resumed after Eid Al-Fitr.

Taichi is a combination of art and fitness that aims to train body and mind balance. The movements performed resemble a calm stream of water. The focus of tai chi practice is to train concentration, control breathing, and regulate the rhythm of the body like flowing water.
