FTUI and PT Citas Otis Elevator explored collaboration on March 26, 2024. The topic of discussion in this meeting was the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of PT Citas Otis Elevator, where PT Citas Otis plans to donate one elevator unit to the FTUI campus. Delegates from PT Citas Otis Elevator present at this visit included Joseph Hasnan, President Director, and Yudi Wibisono, Senior Manager of Service Sales.
“We welcome the exploration of collaboration between PT Citas Otis Elevator and the Faculty of Engineering. With this collaboration, FTUI may benefit from special pricing. Next, we will sign a Letter of Intent (LOI),” said Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni, in his remarks.
PT Citas Otis Elevator is the world’s largest company in the elevator industry. The company has advanced materials and technology related to elevators. For example, the elevator traction cables are stronger, more durable, and environmentally friendly. These cables even have their patents. Elevators produced by PT Citas Otis Elevator can be connected to smartphones, so when the lift users are within 10 meters of the elevator, it will automatically prepare to move to their level. Thus, lift users do not need to wait long for the elevator to arrive.
Another technological advantage PT Citas Otis Elevator offers is elevators connected to ID cards. If this collaboration is realized, there is a possibility that students can access the elevator with their student ID cards (KTM). The proposed location for installing elevators from PT Citas Otis Elevator is UI Salemba. However, this still needs to be further discussed internally with UI. The next steps for both parties involved in this collaboration are to circulate this information to relevant academics, initiate research, and conduct focus group discussions (FGD).
FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., said, “I am pleased with the collaboration offer from PT Citas Otis Elevator. With this collaboration, FTUI students can broaden their knowledge about the world of vertical transportation so that we are not only focused on horizontal transportation. Hopefully, this collaboration can proceed smoothly in the future and benefit us.”
